Ecologically speaking, limiting factors are all those elements of the environment that limit the life, growth, reproduction or any biological activity of the individual.

The scientific name is Morpho menelaus

Limiting factors include:
- food items for the adults and for the caterpillars
- climate – temperature and rains
- places for mating and egg-laying
- predator population density
